Connecting People to Nature

Painted dogs, also known as African Wild Dogs, were once common across much of subsaharan Africa. Persecuted by farmers, these animals have also suffered from introduced diseases of domestic dogs as well as habitat fragmentation. Once numbering over half a million individuals there are now less than 6000 remaining in isolated locations.
This fascinating species is known to care for its old, sick, and injured pack members, but now they need our help. We are hosting a fundraising and awareness event highlighting and supporting the great work being done by Dr. Gregory Rasmussen, and the local community near Victoria Falls, in Zimbabwe. Women in this community have provided essential help in making the Painted Dog project successful!
When: Monday, 8 February 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (PST)
Where: Robert Bateman Centre – 470 Belleville Street, Victoria
